PTI long march: PEMRA bans live coverage

Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) bars all the news TV channels from live coverage of PTI ‘Long march’

PEMRA has directed the news media channels to not broadcast live speeches of any participant of the PTI long march on Friday.

According to regulatory authority notification issued on October 28, “TV channels were previously directed not to telecast the program live, but compliance was very poor. Today, the transmission was monitored, and it was discovered that statements critical of institutions were broadcast live during the speech, which is in violation of the court order and the code of conduct.”

The TV channels have also been directed to not telecast any derogatory remarks against the state institutions.

According to PEMRA, in case of violation with the guidelines, legal action should be taken, including license suspension and cancellation.
