Explosion in Myanmar’s prison leaves 8 killed and 13 injured

At least eight people died and 13 others are severe injured in the blast at Myanmar’s Insein prison on Wednesday. International media reported.

As per details, the two parcel bombs went off at the entrance to the jail shortly after 9:40 am local time, killing three prison staff and five visitors.

As per media reports, police were at the site of incident and inspecting the area of the explosions.

Reportedly, a number of cases scheduled to be heard in the adjacent court, were cancelled after the explosions.

Insein, country’s infamous jail for its harsh conditions and inhumane treatment of prisoners.

Thousands of political prisoners have been sent to the century-old prison since last year’s military coup.
