Kashmiris observe Kashmir Martyrs Day around the world today (Tuesday).
They are observing the day on both sides of the Line of Control and world over to pay homage to martyrs of July 13, 1931.

Meanwhile, All Parties Hurriyat Conference has appealed the Kashmiri people to observe a complete shutdown in the in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir to mark the day.
On 13th July 1931, the troops of Dogra Maharaja had killed 22 Kashmiris, one after the other, outside the Central Jail in Srinagar.
They massacred them during the court proceedings against one Abdul Qadeer.
Abdul Qadeer had asked the Kashmiri people to defy the Dogra Rule.
Thus, 22 youth sacrificed their lives till the completion of Azaan.
Meanwhile, Kashmiris have planned a march towards the Martyrs’ Graveyard at Naqashband Sahib in Srinagar, the burial place of martyrs of 13th July.
In a statement in Srinagar, APHC spokesman explained why the called for shutdown strike.
He said that the shutdown and the march aims to convey to the world that the Kashmiris will never accept Indian subjugation.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has reaffirmed its support to Kashmiris on the 13th July Martyrs Day.
In this regard, spokesman for Foreign Office issued a statement in Islamabad today.
