China will provide half million doses of Covid vaccine this month, according to Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
He said this, while talking to the media in Islamabad today (Thursday).
The FM said China will provide half million doses of Covid vaccine by the end of this month.
Chinese side also promised
He further said that during a telephonic conversation, Chinese Foreign Minister said that Pakistan can air lift the medicine.
Moreover, he said that he told his Chinese counterpart that Pakistan requires 1.1 million doses of the vaccine in view of its large population.
Shah Mahmood said that the Chinese side also promised to make available the required quantity of the medicine by next month’s end.
The Foreign Minister said that China has also agreed to manufacture the Covid vaccine in Pakistan.
He highlighted that the first cache of the vaccine is a grant from China to be provided to Pakistan free of cost as a goodwill gesture.
On the other hand, Adviser to Prime Minister on Health, Dr. Faisal Sultan spoke on the vaccine.
While talking to the media in Islamabad, he said that the government will provide Coronavirus vaccine to the people free of cost.
He further said that negotiations with two pharmaceutical companies continued for procurement of vaccine .
Notably, the Technical Committee shortlisted them with the approval of Drug Regularity Authority of Pakistan.
Moreover, the adviser said Pakistan also stay in touch with Chinese government for procuring anti-Corona vaccine.
Besides, Pakistan has engaged the ambassador of the UK in this regard.
