Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed to make Punjab Police free from political interference by implementing meritocracy.
He was chairing a high-level meeting in Lahore this evening (Friday) to devise a comprehensive strategy to introduce reforms in Punjab Police.
The Prime Minister advised police to utilize latest technological innovations and spend all available resources to combat crime and ensure the protection of lives and properties of citizens.
The Prime Minister directed Inspector General Police Punjab to utilize all resources to protect lives and property of citizens.
He regretted that political appointments were made in police during previous tenures, which impacted performance of the department.
He said no one is above the law and asked the police personnel not to succumb to any political influence or pressure.
The Prime Minister called for postings and transfers on the basis of merit only to ensure dispensation of justice.
He directed for nabbing big criminals gave a warning to little offenders to refrain from indulging in crimes.
The IG Punjab Inam Ghani briefed the Prime Minister about the progress on reforms related to Punjab Police.
He informed that proposals on financial autonomy of police stations and mechanism on reconciliatory council has been presented to the Chief Minister.
Imran Khan stresses to evolve effective strategy to safeguard labourers’ rights
Prime Minister Imran Khan has emphasized on evolving a comprehensive and effective strategy to ensure protection of labourers’s rights and industrial development in the country.
He said this while addressing an inaugural ceremony in Lahore on Friday regarding initiation of new Labour Inspection Regime in Punjab.
The Prime Minister said protection of labourers’ rights should be ensured in new regime and there should be no compromise in this regard.
Stressing the need for taking steps to prevent persecution of the labour class and to promote Ease of Doing Business, he said in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic, protection of country’s labour and promotion of Small and Medium industries have become imperative.
