As the second wave of Covid-19 keeps rising in Pakistan, 2,729 new cases reported during the last 24 hours.

With 71 deaths, the death toll has now reached 8,724 and there are now 45,124 active cases in the country.

381,208 patients stand recovered from the pandemic.

On Friday, government renewed warning of legal action against violators of anti Covid19 SOPs – standard operating procedures.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz announced, while addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Friday.

He warned that the government would take legal action against the elements instigating people for violating the anti-COVID-19 SOPs for the sake of their own personal gains.

Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Chaudhry Fawad Hussain also spoke on the issue.

He emphasized the opposition on reducing conflicts for the sake of the country.

He drew their attention current difficult time owing to the increasing cases of COVID-19.

Fawad urged the Opposition parties to refrain from politics of protests.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Imran Khan made this appeal to the opposition parties.

He urged them to postpone their public gatherings for sake of people’s lives as COVID-19 patients had already occupied 40 percent of country’s hospitals.
