According to the latest statistics, 2,885 people tested positive during the last twenty-four hours after conducting the tests of 33,610 people.

The figure of patients recovered from the virus has reached 370,474.

There are now 44,218 active cases in the country.

On the other hand, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has urged countries to prioritize those most in need while distributing the COVID-19 vaccine.

He made this appeal, while addressing a virtual news conference.

The DG WHO said health workers at high risk of infection are a top priority to get vaccination, followed by people with a higher risk of severe disease and other marginalized groups.

Meanwhile, Pakistan government has urged the opposition (PDM) parties to show sense of responsibility.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz asked them to cease all public meetings in the current situation facing the country.

Government to take strict action

While drawing their attention to deleterious second wave of the COVID-19, he urged them to stop blackmailing or other pressure tactics.

In Lahore, Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan also spoke on the issue on Monday.

She said that Punjab government would take strict action against the SOPs violators.

Awan said this, while addressing a press conference here at Directorate of General Public Relations.
