Election Commission taking steps to make electoral process transparent, said Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja.

He was addressing a ceremony in connection in National Voters’ Day in Islamabad on Monday.

The CEC further said they were making the electoral process impartial, while ensuring transparency.

He made clear that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is an independent institution. Hence, ECP provides equal opportunities of the right to vote to all citizens.

The Election Commission of Pakistan is observing the National Voters Day today.

It is holding events across the country to create awareness about importance of registration as voters.

Meanwhile, Provincial Offices of the Election Commission also organize events in connection with the day.

Since Pakistan held the first general elections on 7th December, 1970, ECP observe National Voters’ Day to commemorate that.

The primary purpose of commemorating the day is to create awareness among general public about the importance of vote.

Specially, the ECP aims to include all segments of the society in electoral process.
