Newly elected Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan Khalid Khurshid

Newly elected Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan Khalid Khurshid takes oath of his office today (Tuesday).

Governor Raja Jalal Hussain Mapoon administered oath to him during a small ceremony at the Governor House.

The small ceremony held due to coronavirus pandemic.

Gilgit Baltistan legislative assembly (GBLA) elected Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Khalid Khurshid leader of the house on Monday.

Election for leader of the house of Gilgit Baltistan Assembly held through show of hands in the GB Assembly Hall in Gilgit.

Speaker Syed Amjad Ali Zaidi presided the session.

Meanwhile, Barrister Muhammad Khalid Khurshid got 22 votes.

However, Opposition’s nominated-candidate Amjad Hussain lost to him, while securing only 9 votes.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf enjoys support from allied-independents.

Moreover, allied-party Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen also voted for Khalid Khurshid.
