NCOC confirms 86 fresh Corona cases in Islamabad

NCOC confirms 86 fresh Corona cases in Islamabad reported during last 24 hours. 

The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) on Coronavirus issued this report on Sunday.

According to an official of NCOC, as many as 88 cases reported last day.

So far, total 17,296 cases reported from the federal capital.

He said that 188 deaths reported from Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) while 16,319 patients had been recovered completely.

Meanwhile, sources from Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) confirmed reporting of corona cases in doctors and other supporting medical staff of the hospital.

They added the hospital administration had directed its staff to strictly follow SOPs.

District administration of Islamabad had started smart lockdown, while keeping in view the increasing number of cases.

Besides, Ministry of National Health Services also had issued directives in this regard.

They enforced it in different streets of the city to reduce transmission of the infection in selected streets and other sectors.

They also started taking actions on violation of SOPs related with the Coronavirus while visiting marriage halls, markets and petrol pumps by its inspection teams.

Administration also sealed two schools, four shops, one workshop and 32 restaurants on violation of SOPs.

Inspection teams

The inspection teams also issued notices to 17 marriage halls besides imposing fines on owners of different shops.

An official of Ministry of National Health Services said that several local level administrative decisions were made to control the disease.

He advised the citizens to continue following the social distancing, use of mask and other precautionary measures to stop increasing local transmission of COVID-19.

He said that the government had adopted effective strategy to combat COVOD-19 that resulted reduction in corona cases in the country.

Furthermore, he said that the main focus of the strategy was to control the disease on one hand and maintaining business activities of small and poor traders on the other hand.

He said that all possible measures were adopted to control COVID-19 to avoid further load on already burdened health system of the country.

He said that strategies were made to control coronavirus keeping in view the global information, focusing on data with integration of local data in a scientific way.

ICT admin SOPs

Moreover, he said that the ministry had also asked the schools administrations of Islamabad Capital Territory to strictly monitor the SOPs to ensure protection of students from COVID-19.

He said that all schools had been clearly directed to strictly follow the SOPs which the government announced.

It included social distancing, hand sanitizing or washing, wearing of face mask, etc.

He asked the parents to regularly observe their school going children and in case of any illness avoid sending them school while teachers should also observe children health on daily basis.

The NHS official stressed for the strict implementation of SOPs and to ensure social distancing while making sitting arrangement keeping in view the appropriate class density.

He said that schools administrations, teachers and parents would have to adhere to the instructions after reopening of institutions.
