Coronavirus has infected nearly 258000 in Pakistan so far.

However, the number of recoveries from COVID-19 continue to increase across the country.

Notably 178,737 patients so far recovered from the disease.

According to the latest statistics, 2145 new coronavirus cases reported in the country during the last 24 hours. That increased the tally to 257,914.

These include 108,913 in Sindh, 88,539 in Punjab, 31,217 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 11,322 in Balochistan, 14,402 in Islamabad, 1,750 Gilgit-Baltistan and 1771 in Azad Kashmir.

Meanwhile, 40 patients died of the virus during the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 5,426.24, 262 corona tests were carried out during this period.

Meanwhile, health workers are rendering exemplary services and reduction in the number of new Coronavirus cases in the country.

In a statement, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health, Dr. Zafar Mirza said they are serving due to their commitment to the cause.

He underlined protection of healthcare workers as the top priority of the government because they deal with the Coronavirus situation on the front line.

He said despite limited resources, the government had given top priority to the protection of healthcare workers.

The Special Assistant noted its initiatives in this regard are being appreciated across the world.

He said under “We Care” initiative, more than sixty thousand health workers have already completed their training.

They belong to all the four provinces, the Federal Capital, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu Kashmir

He appealed to the people to follow the guidelines announced on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
