Minister Hammaz Azhar to present Federal Budget for 2020-21.

The budget session of the National Assembly will begin on Friday at 4.00 pm at the parliament house in Islamabad.

Minister for Industries and Production Hammad Azhar will present the Federal Budget for the fiscal year, 2020-21.

Meanwhile, the session of upper house will also begin today at Parliament House in Islamabad at 5 p.m.

Minister for Industries and Production, will lay before the Senate a copy of the Finance Bill, 2020, containing the Annual Budget Statement.

Earlier, Adviser to the PM on Finance Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh formally made public Economic Survey 2019-20.

While addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Thursday, he noted 73pc decline in current account deficit.

The Economic Survey for 2019-20 revealed current account deficit reduced from $ 20 billion to $ 3 billion.

Sheikh said fiscal deficit curtailed to four percent of the GDP from 5.1 percent of previous year.

He said due to the negative impact of COVID-19, GDP growth rate for outgoing fiscal year is estimated at a negative 0.38 percent.

Giving a break up, the adviser said the agriculture sector recorded strong growth of 2.67 percent considerably higher than 0.58 percent growth achieved during the last year.

Finance and insurance sector witnessed a slight increase of 0.79 percent.
