Coronavirus death toll in Pakistan rises to 209 while total cases reaches 9749.

According to National Command and Operation Centre, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country has risen to 9749.

It said that 2,156 patients have so far recovered.

However, the death toll from the virus stands at 209.

It said 17 new deaths reported during the last twenty-four hours.

The NCOC confirmed 4,328 cases detected in Punjab so far, 3,053 in Sindh and 1345 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

It further confirmed 495 total cases in Balochistan, 283 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 194 in Islamabad Capital Territory and 51 in Azad Kashmir.

The Center said that 533 new cases have been reported among 5637 tests conducted during last twenty four hours.

It said that 2,156 patients have so far recovered while the death toll from the virus stands at 209 with 17 new deaths reported during the last twenty-four hours.

Meanwhile,  Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said that Pakistan Television will live telecast Taraweeh prayer.

Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting said this while briefing Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad on Wednesday.

She briefed him on Information Ministry’s public awareness campaign regarding Coronavirus.

Awan also briefed on strategy to persuade people to adopt precautionary measures, especially during Ramadan.

She apprised the Prime Minister that sufficient publicity of 20 points agenda agreed with Ulema is being ensured so that Namazis can themselves observe precautionary measures before coming to mosques.

Steps to ensure protection of media workers in the context of Coronavirus pandemic also came under discussion.

The Special Assistant informed the Prime Minister about provision of protection kits and gowns to media workers deputed to cover Corona hospitals and isolation centers.

The Prime Minister directed to ensure public awareness campaign regarding observing precautionary measures.
