Islamabad begins observing lockdown

Islamabad begins observing lockdown from today (Wednesday).

In Federal Capital Islamabad, all the offices, markets, shopping malls and restaurants will remain closed from today. 

Federal government has ordered closure as precaution against spread of coronavirus.

Islamabad begins observing lockdown

Earlier, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Security Division Moeed Yusuf addressed the news conference in Islamabad.

He said no intercity public transport will be allowed to operate within the federal capital.

However, Metro Bus service will remain open from 8:30am to 10:30am and 3:30pm to 5:30 pm.

National security official said that government has banned public gathering. 

They also include religious congregation in the ICT.

But essential services including welfare trusts, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, medicine stores, groceries remain exempted from the ban.
