Pakistan National Medicine Policy to be announced shortly

Pakistan National Medicine Policy to be announced shortly, according to Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Health Services, Dr Zafar Mirza. 

He said on Saturday that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government would soon announce national medicine policy.

Dr Zafar said the government introducing wideranging reforms in Drug Regulatory Authority.
He said the authority remains determined to ensure quality of medicines. 
APP reported that it was continuing crackdown against unregistered and spurious medicines.

Government cut medicines prices

GTV earlier reported that the federal cabinet approved 15pc cut in prices of 89 medicines, including life saving drugs.
Special Assistant on Health Zafar Mirza said this while briefing the media about cabinet meeting decisions in Islamabad today (Tuesday). Special Assistant on Information Firdous Ashiq Awan accompanied him.
Mirza also had explained that the federal cabinet reduced the prices under Medicine Pricing Policy 2018.
Moreover, he said that Prime Minister has directed to review medicine policy within two months.
The official said that the government was also preparing National Medicine Policy. That policy will also regularize pharmaceutical sector.
Although incumbent government has been making tall claims regarding its performance, people express dismay because of rising cost living.
They also complain of increased cost of medical treatment besides essential commodities spiralling prices.
