President of Pakistan links sustainable development with women empowerment.
President Dr Arif Alvi said that no country could achieve the goal of sustainable development without empowering the women.
He said this while addressing the Lux Hum Women Leaders Award 2020 in Karachi.

However, he said that the PTI government was empowering women in Pakistan through Ehsaas Programme.
President termed it a collective responsibility including the media persons to actively contribute towards achieving the goal.
He said drama is an excellent medium to educate people about the problems being faced by the society.
Dr Arif Alvi urged the drama writers to particularly pen the stories of polio or hepatitis patients.
He said such dramas would help create awareness about the deadly diseases.
The President appreciated the organizers of the Lux Hum Women Leaders Award 2020 for recognizing the achievements of women.
Later, prominent women include Maleeha Lodhi, Bushra Ansari, Shamshad Akhtar, Samina Baig, Narges Abyar, Jallila Hiader and Seemin Jamali were awarded for their outstanding contributions in respective fields.
However, these women play important role in different sectors.
For instance, Maleeha Lodhi served Pakistan as ambassador, journalist and intellectual.
Dr Shamshad Akhtar served as State Bank of Pakistan’s governor and Finance Minister as well.
Jalila Haider is an activist while Seemin Jamali serves at JPMC.
